Head of School Patrick Maxwell selected stories and wrote the Afterword for a collection of tales set in Ukraine and St Petersburg by the father of 19th Century Russian realism, novelist Nikolai Gogol, which was published by NewYork-based independent publisher,Warbler Press. 41. The annual CCF Inspection and Parade returned to the Quad during the Summer Term.The Inspecting Officer was Major Mike Dobbin, DSO, MC (and OSE in Field House, 1998-2003). 42. Teddies enjoyed a spectacular Gaudy Week.We were dazzled by our 130 dancers in a ‘Diamonds and Gold’ extravaganza (a and d); enjoyed a thought-provoking performance of Dennis Potter’s gritty television play Blue Remembered Hills by our Pathways Drama pupils (b).We followed our Shells down a rabbit hole during their Promenade Performance of A.L.I.C.E (c) and were uplifted by recitals from our Upper Sixth leavers in the historic Holywell Music Room (e); and the language and subtext explored in Caryl Churchill’s Blue Heart * performed by Theatre Soc (f).
