Teddies T20 Cricket Festival AT WORMSLEY 23RD JUNE 2023
It was a superb achievement for our girls to beat a county representative side
O n Friday 23rd June, we enjoyed some of the best summer weather (before a very wet July!) when we hosted the Oxfordshire Falcons (Oxfordshire U18 Girls XI) and Eton's 1st XI at Wormsley Cricket Ground to play the School’s 1st XI teams. Teddies Girls won the morning’s toss and elected for Oxfordshire Falcons to bat first on a good pitch with clear blue skies. The Falcons played steadily, but our disciplined bowling and fielding prevented them scoring too quickly. After the 20 overs, the Falcons scored 142 for 3. Both Lottie Allen (Mac’s, Fourth Form) and Isla Scott-Dalgliesh (Jubilee, Fourth Form) got a wicket. The Teddies girls knew that 142 was achievable, but we would need a strong batting performance. Aimee Diab (Avenue, Fifth Form) came to the crease, batting beautifully to score 67 off 52 balls, ably supported by Lottie Allen with 21 runs, chasing down the Falcons’ score of 142 with two and a half overs to spare. It was a superb achievement for our girls to beat a county representative side. Next up was the Boys’ match, with Eton sent in to bat first.
A strong performance by the Teddies XI meant Eton were bowled out for 136, with Bertie Withers-Green (Sing’s, 2018-2023) taking three wickets and three of Eton’s batsmen being run out.You can never underestimate an Eton bowling attack, so Teddies went out to bat knowing there was still a job to do.The parents, grandparents and OSE assembled on the boundary were treated to an explosive batting display by Teddies indomitable Oli Sedgwick (Tilly’s, 2018-2023), scoring 82 runs off just 40 balls, peppering the boundary (and the hospitality tables!) with five x fours, and eight x sixes. Dylan Dricscoll (Sing’s, Lower Sixth) scored 42 runs to help reach the target in a lightning-quick 13 overs, much to the delight of the Teddies supporters. It was an emphatic win against a good Eton side, described by one of our delighted supporting OSE as ‘a proper tonking!’

Special thanks goes to the Teddies catering department who looked after our guests magnificently throughout the day.
