2023 LEAVERS ACADEMIC RESULTS 202 3 J ust under half of all the A Level grades were A*/A and 82% were A*-B, the best A Level results (in normal times) in the School’s history, and an exceptional achievement by this set of pupils for whom A Levels were their first experience of public exams.Against the national trend, these results hold their own when compared with the more generous teacher assessed grades of the pandemic years. Congratulations also to those who sat IB this summer who achieved excellent results. Some 80% of all Higher Level grades were at 7-5 and an impressive 40% were at 7/6. Fifteen percent of pupils scored at the highest level, achieving 38 points or more (out of 45), the published threshold for Oxford. 80% of pupils secured their first choice university and two thirds will go on to prestigious Russell Group universities.Two pupils will take up places at the University of Oxford to study PPE and Music. Elsewhere, popular destinations are Bristol, Manchester, Durham, Edinburgh, University College London and Exeter alongside more specialist

institutions such as Glasgow School of Art, the Royal Agricultural University, Central St Martins and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.Two pupils will take up places in the United States – at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and at Olin College of Engineering in Massachusetts. As ever, Teddies pupils go on to an impressive range of courses representing the breadth of their experiences at School – from Law, Biochemistry, Astrophysics, Maths and Architecture to Music Production, Fine Art & Sculpture, Jewellery & Silversmithing and Design for Performance. The Warden said, ‘I could not be happier with these results.This cohort of pupils suffered the disruption of the pandemic and faced the added challenge of the return to pre-pandemic grading.They have performed exceptionally well and I congratulate them all for their hard work and determination.They were inspired by their Teachers and HMs, and guided by the new academic team under the direction of the Sub-Warden Academic, David Flower. It is testament to the hard work of all involved that we are able to celebrate these remarkable results today’.

The Martyrs Once you leave Teddies, you can play for ‘The Martyrs’ (our alumni Sports Teams) in a variety of sports – a great opportunity to play sport informally and competitively and enjoy some socials afterwards. Come back to Upper 1 for rugby or cricket and a curry; catch up with other OSE in London playing hockey and football; play golf (subsidised by the OSE Society!); come back to Teddies for the annual Sport Day in March and much more... We also have MAD Martyrs for those interested in Music,Art, Dance and Drama. The Rhubarb Colours! The OSE Society’s iconic ‘Rhubarb’ colours means fellow OSE (and their pets!) are hard to miss in our branded merchandise. From blazers to ties, to dog collars and deck chairs, we stand out from other alumni!

Careers and Networking Professional career advice is available to all OSE until graduating from university. Our global OSE network contains professionals across a broad range of careers, who can share their skills and expertise with you through mentorship. We host regular networking events, so keep an eye out for these!
