‘Rhubarb on the rocks’ OSE Drinks in sydney

The event was, without question, a great success. Looking ahead, we are exploring new venue options to better accommodate the growing number of attendees and hope to encourage even more OSE in Sydney (we know there are plenty!) to take part. The Rhubarb on the Rocks gathering takes place annually on the first Saturday of November. All OSEs are welcome to join for an evening of nostalgia. OSE EVENTS

SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 2024 Report by Ian Stuart (Field House, 1971-1976 )

he annual Rhubarb on the Rocks evening brought together OSE living in Australia and marked a record in the spread of ages for our Sydney gatherings. This year’s event was truly inter-generational, welcoming OSE who left in 1959 all the way up to 2024! Among the highlights of the evening was being able to welcome Michael Trotman (Apsley, 1954-1959), who happened to be in Sydney visiting his daughter at the time. Having left St Edward’s more than six decades ago, Michael shared fascinating insights into school life in a very different era. It was an evening of stories enjoyed by all – with more senior OSE regaling us with tales of their school days when life was not as restricted. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all involved.

6TH -11TH NOVEMBER 2024 n November last year, a group of some of the most adventurous members of the Teddies community, including parents, OSE, and staff, completed a challenging six-day trek through Morocco’s Sahara Desert in support of the School’s Partnerships Programme. Led by experienced Bedouin guides, the group spent four days hiking across the Chigaga dunes. Long days of walking began before sunrise, nights were spent under the stars, there was no running water or modern comforts but trekkers were rewarded by breathtaking views of the incredible desert landscapes. FUNDRAISING TREK IN THE SAHARA DESERT It was incredible to see the community come together to face this enormous challenge in support of Teddies Partnerships – and if this has sparked your interest, be sure to keep an eye out for more fundraising challenges for the Teddies community in future or email Sean Thomson: thomsons @ stedwardsoxford.org.
