TOP MARKS FOR TEDDIES
2025 LEAVERS’ RESULTS C ongratulations to the Teddies Class of 2025 for an outstanding set of results this summer! A LEVEL AND IB RESULTS 82% of marks across A Level and IB were in the A*-B or 7-5 range and 48% were at the very top of the range at A*-A or 7/6.The IB results were the best in the School’s history outside the Covid years. A third of the cohort achieved 38 points or more, the level required for admission to the University of Oxford. One pupil achieved the perfect score of 45 points, a feat achieved by less than 0.2% of IB candidates worldwide, with a further 12 achieving 40 points or more, which equates to a string of A*/A grades at A Level. UNIVERSITY PLACES In an exceptional year for university outcomes, nearly three quarters of the cohort secured places at Russell Group universities, the top destinations in the UK, including three at Oxford and Cambridge. Internationally, destinations for this year’s pupils include Harvard, the University of Southern California, New York University, Duke, Northwestern,Washington and Pepperdine in the USA plus Trinity College Dublin, Hong Kong University and the University Only a few schools are awarded a ‘significant strength’ (recognising the very best practice in the very best schools) under the new inspection framework, and even fewer achieve such an accolade for their academic programmes. We are the only school in Oxford to have been given a ‘significant strength’ for its academic programme, and we have yet to see anywhere else such a broad significant strength awarded for so many different areas of school life. The citation for the ‘significant strength’ reads as follows:“A curriculum which stimulates intellectual curiosity alongside an extensive programme of co-curricular activities…..the school’s super-curriculum is a programme that provides academic extension and draws on opportunities T he Independent Schools Inspectorate has just published its latest report into all aspects of our pupils’ experience at school. As well as confirming that Teddies is fully compliant with all necessary standards and regulations, the report awards the School a coveted ‘significant strength’ collectively for the academic curriculum, the co-curriculum and the super- curriculum.That judgement makes the report without doubt the best in the School’s history.
provided by the school’s location…these programmes allow pupils to develop their interests in a range of areas, as well as to deepen and broaden their knowledge and understanding.” The report also describes our bespoke Pathways and Perspectives courses as extending and deepening pupils’ understanding, driving their academic skills and knowledge. It praises a co-curricular programme which develops pupils’ skills and confidence. It celebrates sport and music departments which inspire pupils to greater levels of achievement. It talks about positive and supportive relationships between pupils and staff, about pupils integrating into Houses where a sense of community is found, and about pupils being committed and loyal to each other. Above all, the report celebrates a culture of respect in a school which prioritises pupils’ wellbeing by promoting integrity, kindness and courage. To inform their thinking, the inspectors carried out surveys with parents, pupils and staff. 98% of parents told inspectors that their children are happy at Teddies, and 98% said that their children are making good progress at school.
