Rhubarb December 2025
Martyrs v St Edward’s 1st XI JUNE 2025
W e had a brilliant time on 8th June as a mixed team of OSE and parents took on the School 1st XI for ‘A Celebration of Rhubarb’. Highlights included watching a few dads facing their own sons on the wicket – we’re already looking forward to doing more of these matches!

Martyrs v Cryptics JUNE 2025 Report by Peter Swainson (Tilly’s 1995-2000) O n Sunday 15th June the Cryptics CC returned to Upper 1 in what has become a popular annual fixture .
Batting first, the Martyrs posted a testing 252 for 5 declared, with special mention to Pete Ades (Segar’s, 2017-2019) who opened the innings and scored an impressive century (103*). In reply the Martyrs took regular wickets, but despite the best efforts of Angus Withers Green (Sing’s, 2015 - 2020) with 2-25 off 10 overs and Eliot Hyman (Kendall, 2019-2021) with 2-32 off 6 overs, and the other Martyrs bowlers, the Cryptics hung on for a draw finishing on 190 for 9. Martyrs v St Edward’s 1st XI (T20) JUNE 2025 Report by Peter Swainson (Tilly’s 1995-2000) O n Friday 20th June, in a well-supported, high-quality and high-scoring T20, the School XI posted an imposing 189-2 off their 20 overs!
In response, the Martyrs managed to keep up with the required run-rate, but lost wickets a little too regularly, ultimately falling short by 16 runs (scoring 173-7). Jamie Regan Jamie Regan (Segar’s, 2018-2020) was the pick of the Martyrs batsmen scoring 40 off 23 balls. This was a brilliant event thoroughly enjoyed by the OSE who played in the match or who supported from the boundary rope. A huge thank you to the School’s Head of Cricket, Ed Ellis, for ensuring the match went ahead and the School for hosting the Martyrs so generously. We dearly hope this can be a regular annual fixture for years to come.
