MARTYRS SPORTS DAY MARCH 2025

M artyrs Sports Day brought a fantastic mix of friendly competition, familiar faces, and glorious sunshine to St Edward’s for one of the highlights of the OSE calendar in which Martyrs teams return to Teddies to take on the School teams in a variety of fixtures. With over 100 OSE, pupils and supporters taking part or cheering from the sidelines, the day offered something for everyone, from energetic fixtures to relaxed catch-ups. This year, it was fantastic to include golf as part of the day’s activities for the first time. The Martyrs golfers joined us at the Martyrs Pavilion in the morning for coffee and refreshments, before heading off for a day on the course. Back on the school pitches, it was a busy day of

back-to-back matches played with plenty of good humour. A real highlight was the first-ever Martyrs women’s football match, an event which we look forward to becoming a regular part of the day’s timetable. It was a close game, eventually won by Teddies 4-3, fought between the School XI and recent leavers who had not too long ago been on the opposite side playing in blue and yellow! Special congratulations go to Boo (Avenue, 2019-2024), who leads the Women’s Football and organised this inaugural fixture, and Izzie (Sing’s, 2022-2024), who each scored for the OSE team. Following the matches, everyone gathered outside the Martyrs Pavilion to enjoy a well-earned lunch and drinks in the sunshine – a chance to relax and reflect on the day.The atmosphere was fantastic and we’re already looking forward to next year.
