Founding Northcott Global Solutions must have been a bold step.What inspired you to start the company, and how did your background in sport, school and military life give you the tools or confidence to do it? Founding a company requires a great deal of support (not least from my wife, Elles, children and my mother) and self-confidence, and Teddies certainly was responsible for giving me the latter. If one can go head-to- head with some of the monsters that appear on the rugby pitch, or sit on the start of a rowing World Championships and hear the names of all the competing nations being read out, it builds a certain

amount of confidence. Sport and my wider Teddies experience led me directly to the Army. My experiences in the Army around kidnapping and CASEVAC (casualty evacuation) led me directly to founding an international emergency response company. 16 years later we look after some of the largest companies in the world across the tech, finance, extractive and other industries. This line of development is entirely clear to me and I’m grateful every day for it.
