It is a school-wide initiative that builds knowledge of social action and the value of service and underlines the importance of social responsibility and contribution to community. Over 180 Lower Sixth pupils participated in service this year, attending weekly placements within our local community in primary schools, residential care homes and charity shops. Partnerships

specialist Teddies teachers and are supported by Lower 6th pupils as part of the Teddies Collaborates programme. The lessons are fun, innovative, and collaborative with a focus on developing confidence and enjoyment of the three core subjects as well as building friendships with pupils from other schools and with the Lower Sixth. We continue to welcome partner schools to use our facilities for sports days and assemblies, including the Cross-Country Fun Run for KS2 pupils delivered in partnership with The River Learning Trust with over 570 pupils attending. We also provide Christmas lunch to local support groups and the Cutteslowe Community Centre pack lunches for their Summer Club.

Over 600 local primary school children have been involved in large- scale sporting partnership events. Three Lower Sixth undertook the Three Peaks Challenge – to climb the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales over May half-term to raise money for school charities.

St Edward’s School and Northern House Academy were honored to receive a Certificate of Excellence for The Award for School or College Partnership of the Year awarded by Pearson National Teaching Awards.

Teddies staff and pupils supported local charities throughout 2024 raising over £63,000 for a variety of charitable initiatives as well as supporting our three School charities of the Year: Helen & Douglas House, Oxford Children’s Hospital Charity and Homeless Oxfordshire. Service has taught me the value of patience when listening and the significance of excelling at interpersonal communication.
