What are some of the highlights and thrills of those projects? Whilst we were recceing vast swathes of remote Mongolia for Long Way Round, James and I got engaged – hard to beat that. Another personal flashback is trying to spot wolves for Human Planet with no one other than my unborn baby for about five miles of empty horizon. Undoubtedly the highlights have been the projects that we have managed to take the kids on too – such as the TimWalker fashion shoot or the Survival series shoot – or the recces we have done with the kids on horseback.

Tell us about your company Panoramic Journeys (PJ) and setting it up. PJ is now 18 years old. Back in 2002, it felt like my luck had run out when I didn’t get into the National Film School. despite all, and thank goodness we did. Our love for the country and her people

was immediate and PJ was our way to enable us to spend as much time there as possible. Our first clients were Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on Long Way Round. Since then, we have arranged over 250 shoots. Karina welcoming Ewan McGregor to Mongolia in 2004
