22 ST EDWARD’S r h u b a r b

Society Funding

The St Edward’s School Society is funded by termly subscriptions from current pupils who, on leaving, become not only OSE but life members of the Society. The funding covers the production and distribution of r h u b a r b and the now annual events card and also supports projects and events within and around the School. These range from the tangible and lasting such as funding the ‘Society Room’ in the Ogston Music School to the improvement of facilities including the renovation and replacement of furniture in the Martyrs Pavilion and the Grace Hadman bench. In his welcome, the current President,

approved both to enhance the Chapel with a specially commissioned Triptych and the new Academic Centre with a water fountain in the newly formed Quad. We have also helped with the publication of Let it Roar, Let it Rage, We Shall Come Through. Archivist, Chris Nathan’s (G, 1954-1957) latest wartime chronology which will be available through www.stedwardsoxford. org/whats-on/school-shop/ . We have given support to the arts such as the fabulous Bee Project where the drawings contributed toward the Teddies pupils' Art Foundation Course. We are always looking for new events to promote such as the Blenheim Triathlon, in which for the first year combined staff and OSE

teams took part on 2nd June 2019. The Society has also ensured greater access to increasing amounts of the School Archive, not least with the digitisation of issues of the Chronicle , past and ongoing, and has also established virtual Sports Shields - images of those adorning the walls of the dining hall with virtual shields from 2001 onwards.  Above all, the Society exists to support and encourage the gathering together of OSE whether at regional lunches or dinners, at Henley Royal Regatta, through the Hon Sec’s entertainment of OSE students at universities around the country or, indeed, by hosting events at School - all of which will see some subsidy or assistance.

Special Gaudy 2020 We are delighted to announce that a Special Gaudy will be held in the summer of 2020, not only providing OSE with the opportunity to meet up at School but also to have a preview of

the amazing facilities that will be coming into play, all being well, in September 2020. The 2020 events card will confirm the date but we anticipate it will be on Saturday 13th June.
