Lushoto, Nairobi and finally Lusaka. He told the tale of travelling to school on his own in Nairobi when he was 8, a two- and-a-half day train journey! He always kept a lively interest in all the activities at St Edward’s and really enjoyed his many trips to Oxford. He would often reminisce about his years at the school, telling us stories about the masters and pupils. As a younger man, he represented the city of Bath in rugby, played cricket for Kenilworth 1st team and hockey for Warwick. He also enjoyed squash and real tennis. Above all John was a man who adored his family - beloved husband of Kay, adoring ‘pops’ to Jason and Jackie and ‘grandpops’ to Jack, Emily and Grace. Thank you John for the memories, the laughs, the support you gave to us all and for being… well just you. We love you and we will miss you always.

John’s wife Kay has kindly provided the following obituary: John was an only child born in Leicester and extremely proud of his parents. His mother, Jean Williamson Jebbett SRN, SCM, RM, finished top in her nursing exams for all London teaching hospitals and then went on to do a specialist course in tropical medicine. His father, Hubert Alfred Jebbett, was awarded the OBE in 1963 for outstanding services as a missionary and for developing St Francis’ Hospital, Katate, in what was then North Rhodesia. John spent most of his childhood in Africa going to Schools in Zanzibar, Tanga,

David was passionate about the timber trade. He held the Presidency of North West Timber Trade Association prior to becoming President of the National Timber Trade Federation where in 2005 he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. A keen golfer, David was a member at Royal Liverpool for over 60 years and was able to mix business with pleasure throughout his career. After retiring David continued with charitable and other good causes as well as many fund raising efforts. David took a keen interest in Teddies throughout his lifetime and kept in regular contact with the school. He was delighted that two of his grandchildren Ella and Jamie Smith attended the

On leaving Teddies David became an apprentice at Munro Brice, timber agents in Liverpool and in 1959, soon after joining the family timber business, David spent several months working at a sawmill in British Columbia before travelling through the United States and returning to England on board the Queen Elizabeth. He was met at the quay in Southampton by his girlfriend, Barbara Miller. They married in 1961 and had three children Penny, Andrew and Sallie.
