24: C. C. Prior – Forestry Directorate, G.H.Q, France – 30 Mar 1918 Dear Mr Sing, I am afraid I have left you without a letter for a long time, but I have had no news much to tell you. Usually, one day here is very much the same as another. We live in anxious days nowadays, but I think the Hun has not got half what he hoped to, and the cost to him has been dreadful, we shall fin[ish] them all right before long – I have been very lucky. I am still serving under my old Colonel and work is very pleasant. I suppose it was through his kindness I got into Despatches at Christmas and now they have made me a Major - so I am very full of myself at the minute!! They seem to think it a great joke and I am almost inclined to agree! I have not been to St. Edwards since 1913 but hope to do so one day. When one gets leave it is very precious and

one (or rather I) like to stay at home. I hope both you and Miss Sing are well.

Yours sincerely, C. Prior
