OSE WWI Transcriptions from the Archives
I saw Davies (O.S.E., I think Welsh, with very thick dark hair) in London who recognised me – oh! yes, he is also deaf – he is flying in Naval Uniform and declares the best bits of country he has met are in the air; very, very keen. I must bring this to an end for with horror I step on to volume V, but I must just say again how particularly pleased we both were to hear from you. I was most interested to hear of your doings and glad that things are going so well. F. Barnes [OSE] left J.E.S. with L. Davies [OSE] a Queen’s man and I think they both entered the same Regt. But I haven’t heard of him until I got your letter. Will you please give my kind regards to Mr. Thompson and kind enquiries after his wife and boy, he was my tutor, funnily enough, at Queens’. This should have gone to you last mail, but we were away up the Mountain – the only other place on the island besides this, I was afraid to start off on that subject for it is vastly different up there – and I had left your letter behind. With kind regards and our combined good wishes for yourself, I am yours very sincerely, Hugh Jeffries
