A TO Z
Casual Clothes: Day pupils and boarders need some casual clothes but please don’t bring your entire wardrobe! Make sure everything is named. Please remember that any new clothes purchased while you are at School will need to be labelled. As an emergency measure there is a laundry marker you can use until a name tape gets put on. Please do not bring special or expensive items of clothing to school. Computers: All pupils now lease or purchase laptop computers from our approved supplier Easy4U for use at school. Pupils may not bring additional devices. Dining: All boarding Shells, Fourth and Fifth Form pupils must attend breakfast, lunch and supper in the Dining Hall. Day pupils are warmly invited to join the rest of the year at breakfast and supper. Tea is optional. Sixth Formers can have breakfast in House if they wish. Each House has a kitchen area where snacks can be made – we provide bread, spreads etc. Please remember we are a nut-free school. Drinking Alcohol : Sixth Form pupils who have written parental permission are allowed to have two 125ml wine or two bottles of beer with a meal at Saturday night events which are run by the school. We request that parents do not allow pupils to return to school having drunk alcohol, for example over Sunday lunch.
Academic Matters : For all academic questions, the House Tutor is the first person to talk to – for pupils and for parents. Tutors can advise on progress, subject choices, extra support etc. Dates for parents’ meetings and reports are on the Parent Page . Bags : In the Lower School, you will be provided with a school bag with your initials on. You are expected to carry this bag to all lessons. Your desk and space for your files will be in house (not a form room), and you are expected to pack for up to three lessons at a time. Bedding : Please bring a single duvet and two duvet covers. You will be provided with a pillow but if you like a particular type of pillow you might want to bring another. If you do please bring two extra pillowcases. Many pupils like to have a mattress topper too. If you choose to bring your own fitted bottom sheet please do not bring white ones as these can get lost amongst the House washing. All bedding must be labelled clearly. Please label duvet covers on the outside of the seam opening.

Bicycles: Pupils are permitted to bring bicycles to School, and they should be kept in the bike racks outside the House. Most pupils do not bring bicycles unless they are rowers or day pupils who cycle to school. Bicycles should be clearly named, and the frame number recorded with the Matron. Each bicycle must be equipped with a good lock (a padlock and chain or D lock). It is advisable to give a second key to the House Team for safe keeping. A cycle helmet must always be worn, and lights used after dark. Until we know you are a confident cyclist we will not allow you to cycle to and from the boathouse, so make sure you get some practice in before you start. Calendar: The school calendar is available on the school’s website. The calendar and school’s website give details of matches, outings, Chapel services and other events.
Pupils are not allowed to bring alcohol into school.
