57 ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

Izzie Brown

Girls’ Football The girls’ football club went from strength to strength this year and another team was added due to a large influx of players in the Shell and more players in the senior school who wanted to experience the game. This year was always going to be a strong one for the girls’ 1st XI, who had a strong core of Upper Sixth pupils who have set new heights and standards since they joined the club. Fuelled by their pre-season training in Milan, the 1st XI had another undefeated season, meeting the challenge of many more fixtures in the calendar. The squad, captained by Boo Haigh, also managed to win the first Teddies’ 11-a-side tournament, blazing through their matches and not conceding a goal during the competition. The Golden Boot Award went to Izzie Brown for a consecutive year. Izzie has averaged 2+ goals per game since her involvement in the team and will be a hard act to follow.

To end the season, there was a great opportunity for more girls to get involved in football during the House Football Tournament. This year Sing’s were victorious, playing against a formidable Cooper Lodge/Field House/ Corfe combination. Looking ahead to next year there will be further opportunities for the girls as we will be entering both the Senior and Junior ISFA Cup and hoping to extend the fixture card across all teams.
