the crew, designers to the production team. My co-director, Airlie Scott, and I were ably supported by The North Wall team, with Clive Stevenson as production manager and Lara Paul as producer and stage manager. The play was slick but warm and inviting. Our team pay close and particular attention to every detail but don’t take themselves too seriously and we hope this came across in the play. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event for all – audience, cast and crew alike.
from the Lower Sixth who had taken part in several productions at Teddies over the years. Their professionalism, skill and leadership were evident as soon as they appeared. We also welcomed two new Lower Sixth pupils to the cast, Oberon (Harry Frost) and Titania (Aniyah Samuel). Their portrayal of the strained marriage between the Fairy King and Queen was both humorous and modern. Our passion for nurturing talent could be seen across all areas of the production.
Ceci Balke, now in the Lower Sixth, has been part of the crew for shows for many years and has had the opportunity to shadow professional designers in their work with the school. For this production she made the role of costume designer her own. The costumes for Theseus (Corban Goodsell) and Egeus (Oscar Smith) were particularly sharp, with Ceci transforming them into sophisticated, middle-aged aristocrats of the 1920s.
