was given access to weekly strength and conditioning sessions, run by professional coaches Hamzat Ahmed and Lauren Ayres. The sessions aim to diversify and increase the amount of exercise the team is doing, making everyone more physically capable on the water. The sessions were a great success, with sailors of all abilities taking part during the term. It was also great to see the mentoring given by the senior pupils to those in the Lower School. Having the ability to pass down knowledge from pupil to pupil is very valuable, and in my opinion it’s one of the best things about being on the team. It was a great term, and a very successful start to a promising year for Teddies’ Sailing. The Sailing Club By Dr Louise Bowen, Head of Sailing As the Head of Sailing I am in a unique and privileged position. With such an able Sixth Form in terms of qualification, dedication, passion and kindness, the Club has a strong pupil voice. The Sixth Form are able to request activities that they know are needed to improve their sailing skill and competitive success. Archie Screech- Dean and Izzy Rogers are now qualified instructors and take every opportunity to hone their teaching skills and enable the improvement of sailing skills across all levels. indicates the level of passion for the sport that exists across all abilities. The successes in regattas that Archie has outlined above are a testament to the dedication, teamwork and above all a passion for the sport that is noticeable to all who visit the Club. I am proud of all members of the Sailing Club for their attitude this term and look forward to keel boat season!
in the Autumn Term and, as a result of good coaching from David Bickerton and instruction from Archie, Izzy and assistant instructor Charlie Hutton, I was impressed with their progress. The new sailors were able to enjoy the steady increase in wind speed this term as their sailing skills grew and the expressions of pure joy that emerged from the beach after hours of sailing in the cold, even after capsizes,

On the water they, along with many of the other more experienced pupils, support pupils in the rigging of new boats, launching in tricky winds and with general sailing skills.
