2020 was a very good year for the St Edward’s Football Club. Although the season was cut short, Teddies had made a fantastic start and was on track for the Club’s most successful season in recent years. All teams from 1st to 4ths had seen success both at home and away. Overall, a number of outstanding performances gave the Club a win ratio for the season of just under 60%. 1st XI  The 1st XI managed to squeeze in eight competitive fixtures before the season was suspended. They achieved four draws, two wins and two losses. It was a frustrating year for the 1st XI when they were often in front but could never quite get over the line before being held to a draw. They enjoyed some extremely competitive games versus Bromsgrove, Marlborough and Stowe with convincing wins over Wycliffe College and Summertown Stars. It was an

2nd XI  It was a vintage year for the 2nd XI, which saw them win five out of eight fixtures with only one loss versus Bromsgrove. They achieved some fantastic results, beating Bedford 3-0, Cheltenham 6-1 and, just before the suspension of the season, Stowe 4-0.

exciting year for the 1st XI and all players showed extreme commitment to the team and willingness to develop as a unit. They suffered some difficult injuries throughout the term but dealt with them admirably and continued to push for victory and results. Those in the Lower Sixth will be very keen to pick up where they left off this term.

This year will be an exciting one for the Football Club when we can look forward to competitive fixtures for the Fifth Form and, importantly, the introduction of football for senior girls.
