25 ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

Oxford Mutual Aid By Jess Knight, OMA Volunteer Oxford Mutual Aid is proud to be working alongside St Edward’s School to cook and distribute free, delicious meals for the Oxford community as part of the Kitchen Collective programme. St Edward’s chefs have been cooking an incredible 115 meals every week, which are delivered by Oxford Mutual Aid and other community partners to people around the city who might otherwise struggle to access hot meals.

Head Chef Ralph Wiskin and Nabila Qureshi of OMA

Oxford Mutual Aid is a volunteer group that was set up in response to the coronavirus pandemic, but has grown into one of the largest emergency aid providers in Oxford, and a lifeline for many people in the city. We now deliver over 450 hot meals and 180 food parcels each week, including to people who have low or no income, people who are self-isolating, those experiencing homelessness, families with young babies, and children receiving free school meals.

Our partnership with St Edward’s began as the coronavirus took hold, but continued into the festive season, allowing us to spread joy and support throughout Oxford over a period which can be very difficult for many people in our city. Our wonderful team of volunteers distributed our usual food parcels during the holidays, plus some gifts and festive treats.
