the Inter Boys’ 4x100m and 4x400m teams both breaking school records, and the whole Teddies team collecting enough points across the relays to finish in the silver medal position. The Club demonstrates the importance of being earnest each week, with the athletes intensely focused on their goals and always competing with great effort and commitment. The girls competed on Marlborough’s track several times this season, coming away with many wins across all of the events on each occasion. At the Nitro event the final lap of the elimination mile consisted only of Teddies pupils; it was won by Florence Williams, with Isla Scott Dalgleish, Chloé Boyce and Kaïa Christensen making up the other places. The girls shared the same success in the 4-minute max, dominating the competition by over 250 metres. In the invitational fixture winners included Ana Galvani-Silva in the senior shot put and Agnes Bronska in the senior javelin. In the Inter competition Xanthe Docherty, Ella Walkinshaw and Phoenix Gorst were winners in the high jump, hurdles and the discus respectively, and Gabby Deslandes achieved second place in the 200m. For the juniors Julia Dann won the high jump, Willa van Lynden took first place in the discus and Martha Wright in the 800m.

group of Teddies athletes have demonstrated the values held so highly by Malcolm Oxley and as they continue to do this, they will go on to run faster, jump higher and throw further in the future. Thank you for being a fantastic group of athletes and coaches to work with – I’m looking forward to the next season already.

I have had the privilege of reflecting on the past, present and future of Teddies athletics this season. I remember watching Tom Letch (javelin), Brume Otubu (100m and 200m), Zoe Forbes (high jump) and the relay teams set records in the past; this season I have witnessed those records being broken.
