Blair Worden - A Book of Friendship
BLAIR WORDEN - A BOOK OF FRIENDSHIP
Ode to Blair Tom Holt Now most of us tend not to think too much And most of us tend not to care About what really happened at Such-and-such And what it was like to be there. But some of us think about what has been And how it informs what will be; And what people heard, and the things they’ve seen (And the terrible impact of what they mean) Are the essence of History. So my fingers are crossed that my facts are straight And my footnotes as sound as can be As I venture the wonderful tale to relate (Allotting each source its appropriate weight) Of Blair Worden MA PhD. Though some maintain he was raised by wolves, It is probably closer to truth That he spent some years at St Edward’s School, A modest and studious youth. Some sources would have him a Pembroke man; Others say Selwyn begat him, And some make a case for St Edmund Hall - And they’re all of them right, seriatim. Of the great civil war between Cromwell and Charles He has striven the facts to descry.
He taught to the sages a truth for all ages; That, when you know how, you know why.
