Sometimes the Spittlehouse pamphlet has errors which look classically like printers errors – ‘that we might with enuity ’ corrected by the King’s Inn manuscript to ‘ ingenuity’ [S13, P32] ; sometimes there seems to be the same mistake in both, suggesting an error in their source(s) – as in ‘but aseding right’ where the Milton Ms has ‘seeming right’[S9, P22]; or when both add a redundant ‘of’: ‘had been promised and were of due to be performed’[S8,P19]. But in a significant number of instances, it is difficult to see the differences as careless transcription rather than mis-hearings by separate scribes trying to take down what was being said:
