In our advancing and flourishing modern world, new opportunities appear every day. Which one
to follow? What career to choose? Many young people, especially teenagers, try to organize their
life in a way that will lead them to achieve happiness and prosperity in the way that they have de-
termined and in the way that they desire. Or at least they or their parents would like it to be so. I
am sure that many of you feel pressured to determine and plan your life at certain times. But what
many people don’t understand is that there is no such thing as a scheduled life. And if there would
exist a planned life, it would most likely fail. There is no particular path that you have to choose to
achieve a favorable destination. No matter what that destination would be. Life goes on in numer-
ous ways that you can’t control it at times. People often get upset because something does not
work out the way they would want. They feel sorrowful and low-spirited about it. But it is the
beauty of life to adapt to changes and struggles that it brings with itself, to go against what is
thought to be correct. It is also the beauty of life to not shape the path for your life but to make a
few steps towards it every single day of your life.
People change constantly. Our preferences, friends, locations, everything changes. We are told
that we are the directors of our life and we are. But we are not in control of our emotions and in-
stincts, which are also a part of us. The rational mind does not take control of instantaneous feel-
ings or our genuine emotions. The moment we try to define ourselves as someone, we slowly be-
come them, whether we want it or not. We place ourselves in a position that is hard to get out of.
The ‘discovery’ of our true selves can often be misleading in terms of the decisions we make. There
are always two sides. Don’t ever think that only one choice will lead you to a correct route, while
the other will not. Whichever decision you make, it will always come along your way, and you will
continually adapt to the consequences. Don’t feel pressured to figure out your life. There are so
many ways that your life can go, and so many opportunities you could take. There is no single way
in which your life should take place, and there is instead the life that we continuously shape with
our actions, choices, and relationships.
